This account of the town's history written by local historian Rex Needle is a digital version of the book and is intended to be an introduction to our past, describing how Bourne was established in the earliest times and tracing its development of this community through to the present day. The story embraces the growth of agriculture, religion, education and crime, the water industry which became world famous and the arrival of the railways which brought a new prosperity for more than a century.

There are also descriptions of our historic buildings and the lives of prominent people who helped the town succeed. The disc also contains many photographs from past times and contemporary, and it is hoped that it will stimulate sufficient interest to inspire further inquiry about our history. The disc has also been specially designed to make it easily accessible by the reader without complicated navigation.
