Snow in January 2004

PREDICTIONS of extreme winter weather conditions by the met men did not materialise this week but we did get a flurry of snow overnight on Tuesday 27th January which briefly changed the appearance of the town and locality. The best place to judge how much had fallen was in the Wellhead Gardens where there were large untrodden tracts and these revealed a depth of between two and three inches, no more. The snow had disappeared from the town centre by mid-morning but I did manage to capture these scenes during a brisk walk in and around South Street.
