THE STAR DRIVER of the day was Damon Hill, son of Graham Hill who was at the wheel of the BRM car during the 1962 world championship victory.

Damon, who himself won the world championship in 1996, was one of the drivers making a tour of the circuit through the town in his father's car nicknamed "Old Faithful", seen here in Abbey Road, one of the town centre streets which was crammed with spectators for this spectacular day.
