Philip Henry Ash 1923-2012 Philip Henry Ash was a member of the farming family from Dyke, near Bourne. He was the son of Joe and Bertha Ash who carried on the family business after attending the village school and also played an important role in public life, serving as a member of the Black Sluice Drainage Board for 46 years, a governor of Westfield School for 21 years and as a trustee of Dyke Baptist Chapel for 68 years. Philip was a founder member of the Rotary Club of Bourne and enjoyed all aspects of country life. He also had many hobbies including shooting, tennis, skiing, reading, classical music and travelling. He died on Wednesday 10th October 2012 at his home in Mill Drove, Bourne, with his family round him. The funeral service took place at Grantham crematorium and was followed by a service to commemorate his life at St John the Baptist Church, Morton. He left a widow, Margaret, a son, William, and a daughter, Elizabeth. Return to Dyke village
